Frequently Asked Questions

  • Your pet will be able to be off-leash and have a chance to check out the space and us! We’ll spend as much time as needed getting your pet used to being on the background, and comfortable with the lights and camera before we get into it. You and your pet’s comfort is our first priority! If your pet is very shy or nervous we may ask you to help get them into position. We’ll do some peanut butter licks, treat throws, strutting, and whatever else your pet wants to do!

  • After we receive your booking and deposit we will send you an email confirming you session. Included in the email is a short questionnaire to give us more info about your pet and the colour options.

  • If you have a high-energy pet, we recommend a good play session or run before the shoot as it might help them be a bit more calm and focused during the session.

We suggest giving your pet less food than normal the day of your shoot because they will be getting lots of treats over the hour. If you have a young puppy, we recommend bringing one of their meals so they don’t get overloaded on treats for the day.

If you get your dog groomed, we recommend bringing your pet in at your favourite coat length.

  • We encourage you to bring any of your favourite accessories (bed, bowties, bandanas, clothes,) or toys you want in the photos. We have lots of treats and some squeaky balls in the studio but, if your pet has any food allergies or particular favourites, you can bring your own!

  • Absolutely! We love taking family photos and always encourage the humans to join their pets.

  • After the session, your pet will probably be very tired! We recommend letting you pet rest or take a nap

We will send the edited photos to you to select from within 2 weeks.

  • Yes! Additional edited photos can be purchased for $20 per image

  • For prints we require our clients print through us to make sure your prints are the best quality. There are generic photo labs that are lower cost, but they sacrifice quality and don’t accurately produce photographs to our standard. All prints are made by printers that are geared towards professional photographers. We work with companies that use the best printers and colour accuracy. The prints and other products are high quality and we are proud to offer them to our clients. We want to ensure you are getting the best artwork of your pet possible!

Full resolution edited images with printing rights can be purchased for $350 per image.

  • Short answer, yes.

Long answer, it’s hard to predict how a pet will react in the studio. For every pet that comes in we let them check out the space and positively condition them to the paper backdrop, the flash, and the camera shutter. It can take some time to adjust, but they almost always do. How long it takes depends on your pet. Some come right in ready to model while others take some time to warm up!

We always let the pet decide how the shoot is going to go. We never want to rush them into anything or force them to do something they don’t want to. During the shoot, we will find what works for your pet; some love treats, or a ball, or just want you near by. By the end of the shoot, most pets are having a great time.

If you’re worried about your pet please let us know before your shoot and we can discuss what works best for your pet in new situations and we can schedule a bit more time if needed!

  • No, the only animals in the studio during your session are the ones you bring! We schedule our appointments with enough time in between so you don’t have to worry about encountering other pets before or after your shoot.

  • Deposits are non refundable, but appointments can be rescheduled up to 48 hours before the start time of the photoshoot and your deposit will transfer. If rescheduled with in 48 hours your shoot, the deposit will be forfeited. If Kapture 9 has to cancel or reschedule your shoot, deposits will transfer to a new date.
